Rob Thomas Live in St. Louis: All Night Days Tour Review

Rob Thomas, the acclaimed multi-platinum recording artist—not the St. Louis Blues’ Center, just in case you got confused—made a stop in St. Louis on a beautiful Tuesday evening, performing at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater.

Currently on his “All Night Days Tour,” Thomas is promoting his upcoming sixth solo album, also titled All Night Days, set for release on September 5.

The concert began with the album’s energetic lead single, “I Believe It,” as Thomas emerged dramatically, illuminated by a backlit oval opening behind the riser. His signature baritone voice instantly set the tone for the evening.

Throughout the show, Thomas transitioned seamlessly between his solo material, classic Matchbox Twenty hits, and engaging storytelling. He interacted warmly with the audience and fan club members seated on stage, delivering the dynamic energy his concerts are known for.

A standout moment was his reimagined version of Matchbox Twenty’s “3AM.” Performed slower and more intimately on piano at center stage, the arrangement showcased Thomas’s strong vocal delivery in quieter settings. Moments at the piano proved to be some of his most compelling vocal performances of the night.

Despite his overall strong showing, there were occasions during more intense songs when Thomas’s vocals sounded slightly strained, perhaps indicating he was battling a cold. While this wasn’t overly noticeable, it was apparent during his cover of INXS’s “New Sensation.” Fans, however, seemed unfazed, continuing to enjoy the show.

One of the evening’s highlights was the soulful performance of “Little Wonders,” where Thomas’s vocals shone brightly.

Thomas’s talented band included longtime drummer Able Fogle, guitarist and keyboardist Matt Beck, his son Maison Thomas-Eudy on guitar, bassist Al Carty, and multi-instrumentalist Korel Tunador. Backing vocalists Kim Dawson and La Tanya Hall added depth to the sound. Maison’s energetic presence and clear enthusiasm were evident, with Rob visibly delighted to share the stage with his son.

The opening act, Grammy award winning duo of Ian Axel and Chad King, aka A Great Big World, delivered a shortened yet lively set that warmed up the crowd that included their newest single “Away We Go.” Although King could not be touring this time due to health issues, his stand in (Chris???) did a commendable job on guitar.
