The Double Trouble Double Vision Tour brought together three bands in St. Louis on Thursday for an evening filled with Southern rock, classic hits, plenty of guitars and a crowd ready to sing along. The weather looked questionable for a while, but the heavy rain moved out just in time for what turned into an incredible night of classic rock at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater.

Six Gun Sally opened the night and wasted no time getting things started. Their energetic Southern/classic-rock sound was a perfect fit for the lineup, delivering a set that included “Piece of My Heart”, “Ramblin’ Man”, “Somebody to Love”, and “Fast Train”. They brought plenty of energy to the stage and helped set the tone for everything that followed.

Next up was Foreigner, and they were easily one of the highlights of the night. From the opening notes of “Double Vision”, the crowd was completely engaged. Their set was packed with songs that have been part of classic-rock radio for decades, including “Cold as Ice”, “Waiting for a Girl Like You”, “Feels Like the First Time”, “Urgent”, and “Juke Box Hero”.

One of the most memorable moments of Foreigner’s set came during “I Want to Know What Love Is”, when singers from De Soto High School in Missouri joined the legendary band on stage for the iconic song. The collaboration made an already memorable performance even more special, with the crowd joining in as thousands of voices filled the amphitheater.

Foreigner sounded fantastic throughout the night, and their performance was a reminder of just how many instantly recognizable songs the band has produced over the years.

Then it was time for Lynyrd Skynyrd to close out the night.

Johnny Van Zant and the band delivered a powerful celebration of Southern rock, taking the crowd through generations of Skynyrd favorites. Songs including “What’s Your Name”, “That Smell”, “Saturday Night Special”, “Simple Man”, and “Gimme Three Steps” kept the audience on its feet.

By the time the unmistakable opening of “Sweet Home Alabama” filled the amphitheater, nearly everyone was singing along. And there could only be one way to end the evening: “Free Bird”. The legendary song provided a fitting finale to a night celebrating music that continues to connect with fans decades after many of these songs were first released.
