Our favorite witches are back at the Fabulous Fox Theater. Elphaba is back, and DEFYING GRAVITY! Let me just say, watch out Idina Menzel, Lissa deGuzman (@lissadeguz) is hot on your heels. I have reviewed this show on a few different occasions and Lissa’s Elphaba is exceptional! Jennafer Newberry’s Glinda (@jennafernewberry) lights up the stage. She is adorable, energetic, and absolutely hilarious!

“Wicked” takes us on a journey through the formative years of the witches of Oz. What happened in their formative years that made them “good and or wicked.” Elphaba’s quest to meet the wizard (Timothy Shew), is met with some tribulation, disappointment, and best of all love. Fiyero (Christian Thompson @christianthompsonactor) sees past the emerald, to the heart of Elphaba.

“Wicked” with its beautiful scenery, and pastiche musical numbers, is an amazing homage to L. Frank Baum. It takes us all on a wonderful journey back down the yellow brick road.

I will be honest, I love this show, it is in my top 5, absolute favorite shows. There are times that it is hard for me to write an unbiased review of this show, because it is part of the reason, I love live theater so much. The first time I saw “Wicked,” “Defying Gravity” caused tears to roll down my face. Anyone who has ever felt misunderstood or unseen, this show may speak volumes. Refusing to sell out, to fit in…and finding the strength to find your own voice; it is a beautiful story.
