If you were in town this Labor Day weekend, your staycation got an upgrade if you were among the party goers at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater. The evening started with a DJ who kept us entertained and set the mood before opening artist Iggy Azalea made her appearance. But the night belonged to Pitbull!
When he was ready to begin, a ridiculously large curtain covered the stage and hid the Cuban-American star while the screens on either side displayed a countdown. We were happy to yell out the numbers as if we were waiting for the ball to drop in Times Square, to welcome his arrival. The fans were out of their seats and ready to go from the first note. He opened with the anthem, āDonāt Stop the Partyā with dancers swirling around him, fog machines blasting straight into the air and the chorus spelled out in giant letters behind him. āYeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!ā And weāre off!!
He then took the time to say how grateful, thankful and blessed he was to be there, with us, in the Show-Me State. He then said āyou show me seven and Iāll show you eight.ā Iām not entirely sure how to decipher that but I have no doubt, he means what he says! That seems to be his approach to life. With his signature catch phrase ādaleā (da-lay), always giving his all, and then some.
Then he launched into his next number, āHey Babyā to the delight of the sold-out crowd. His fans are not only enthusiastic, but they are also downright dedicated. Mingling around the venue, a few of them wore a type of snug-fit, flesh-toned, bald-head hats to emulate the rapper. Ā Some even had painted on beards. Now thatā¦ is a fan!
His third number was āHotelā and the stage lit up like a city scape. He and his dancers continued to wow the crowd with their slick Miami moves. His energetic presence could be felt all the back to the lawn and probably to the next town over. Again between songs, he took the time to thank us for being there and said he couldnāt be more grateful for the opportunity. He wasted no time mentioning his band and DJ, saying āI donāt do this shit up here all by myself.ā His Canāt Stop Us Now tour will stop 50 times in 2022.
Pitbull is one of the most stylish and entertaining artists in pop music. He has been chosen to host everything from the Super Bowl Halftime Show to the American Music Awards. Always a professional, he comes dressed to impress and with his cooler than cool demeanor and smooth vocals that finesse the airwaves like melting chocolate, no party is complete without him.
Also known as Mr. Worldwide, he has seemingly collaborated with everyone in music, including J-LO, Usher, Kesha, Shakira, Enrique Inglesias, Christina Ageulara, Zac Brown and many more. He has also made old songs new again by sampling them while laying down new tracks.
Saturday night was nothing but high-energy and good vibes and we are also grateful, thankful and blessed that you chose to spend it in St. Louis.
