Prog rock masters Dream Theater are set to embark on their fall 2019 tour entitled “Distance Over Time Tour – Celebrating 20 Years of Scenes From a Memory”.

The tour will feature the band playing their 1999 opus Metropolis, Pt 2: Scenes From a Memory in it’s entirety along with a handful of selections from their most recent album Distance Over Time, as well as some other Dream Theater classics.

To accomplish this the band has promised over two and a half hours of music (Metropolis, Pt. 2 clocks in at almost an hour and 20 minutes on its own) broken up into two separate “Acts”.

Any fan of Dream Theater is familiar with the concept album that is Metropolis, Pt 2: Scenes From a Memory. Many include it among the classic concept albums of all time with influences from The Beatles’ Sgt. Peppers’ lonely Hearts Club Band, Queensryche’s Operation; Mindcrime, The Who’s Tommy, and Pink Floyd’s The Wall, among others.

It has been praised as one of the greatest prog-rock albums of all time as well as one of the greatest concept albums of all time (it’s certainly in my top 10).

The tour kicks off September 26 at the Palace in Louisville, Kentucky and finishes November 11 in Ontario, Canada.

The band will hit Saint Louis as the 5th stop Tuesday, October 2 at Stifel Theatre. Tickets are still available at the Stifel Theatre box office and online here.

For progressive rock fans this is not a show to miss.
