The Silos Bring Their 40th-Anniversary Tour to St. Louis on April 19
The Silos are embarking on their 40th anniversary tour in their 41st year. The band formed in 1985 by Walter Salas-Humara, Bob Rupe (now deceased), and violinist Mary Rowell in New York City. During the time of New York’s post-punk scene, the East Village band introduced an indie/alt-rock-country sound that The Rolling Stones’ critics poll once deemed them Best New Artist. A precursor to what’s now known as alt-country, The Silos have continued to morph and grow throughout the decades while staying true to their roots. The one constant member during the years is singer-songwriter Salas-Humara.
With a lovely, cozy, newly-released album, Everything, The Silos bring “a new chapter — reflective, urgent, melodic, and alive.” Their tour, which promises to be “inspiring, beautiful, and powerful,” begins on April 8 and will land in St. Louis, Missouri, on April 19 at Off Broadway in South City on the last night of their Midwest leg before they resume on the East Coast on April 30, ending in the Pacific Northwest on June 13.
